I worked for an environmental organization called Let’s Do It Philippines whose vision was to eliminate illegally dumped solid waste across the country for a sustainable future. I travelled to various communities all across the country to speak with citizens, youth leaders and government groups about community specific issues and discuss possible solutions. I also participated in various clean up events and camps for citizens of all ages to learn about global environmental issues and plan with other like minded individuals for the national clean up day that was to occur on September 20, 2015.
Going on an exchange has contributed to my personal and professional life unimaginably. I have always had a passion towards the environment and before going on exchange, I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to pursue after finishing my undergraduate. Because of this experience, my original plans have now shifted towards a field I have always thought about but never seriously considered. I was able learn so much about myself and be inspired by so many individuals that were happily pursuing their passions. I grew so much as a person and developed many transferrable skills that are helping me currently get through school.
