Work Term: May 10 – August 31 2012
Compensation: $13/hour
Hours per Week: 40
Work Times: 8am-5pm M-F (1 hour unpaid lunch break)
Job Description:
The main function of this position is to help raise sponsorship for AIESEC Canada’s 2013
National Conference (NC 2013), which is being hosted by AIESEC Edmonton. As such, this
student will work closely with the conference Organizing Committee and AIESEC Edmonton
Executive Board to ensure the success of the conference. The student will be required to
attend the bi-weekly Organizing Committee meetings as well as Executive board meetings.
AIESEC Edmonton will also sponsor the student to attend three national conferences:
National Sales Program – May 1-2 in Toronto (only delegate fee sponsored – student must
pay for flight)
National Leadership Development Conference – occurs immediately after National Sales
Program on May 2-6 in Toronto (delegate fee sponsored)
National Sales Summit - 3 days in mid-July in Toronto (delegate fee and flight sponsored)
It is mandatory that the student attend these three conferences. At these conferences the
student will learn valuable information about sales, time management, teamwork and
leadership training.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
The student will provide assistance and support as necessary to the Organizing Committee,
which can be broken into 2 main categories:
Sponsorship – to identify and include partners imperative to the conference

Follow up with sponsors of NC 2011 and secure sponsorship with them for NC 2013

Create a market segmentation by identifying key markets

Write specific proposals to different companies and organizations

Book and attend marketing calls and follow up with all partners

Record all meetings in data base and continue to service the company

Approach corporate organizations, faculties at the university and all ministries to find the diverse grants available

Peruse monetary and in-kind donations
Communications – assure good external communication with partners, collaborators,
Edmonton Executive Board and the Organizing Committee

Build and follow a communication plan

Increase exposure for the conference

Maintain contact and service all partners and stakeholders
Qualifications:

Must be returning to school in Fall 2012. Candidates with 2 or more years of university left are strongly preferred.

Eagerness to learn how to market AIESEC’s value proposition to potential sponsors

Proficiency using technology such as e-mail and PowerPoint, as well as specific customer relationship management tools such as the “Salesforce.com” database.

Understanding of marketing strategies and techniques is beneficial.

Exceptional interpersonal skills and an ability to develop a rapport with corporates in a short amount of time.

Excellent communication and presentation skills, a strong team focus.

Proficient strategic planning and organizational abilities would be an asset.

Maintain professional composure as this position requires significant interaction with the business community in Edmonton.
Deliverables:
The conference operations manager is a demanding position that requires the delivery of
the following results:
May 7 – May 31 $5,000 Fundraised
June 1 – June 29 $5,000 Fundraised
July 2 – July 31 $5,000 Fundraised
Aug 1 – Aug 31 $5,000 Fundraised
Total $20,000 Fundraised
The selected candidate will be held accountable by the Executive board and conference
Organizing Committee. Although the target of $20,000 may appear intimidating, it is most
attainable even if you have no experience raising sponsorship. Edmonton hosted National
Congress in 2011, and simply renewing our previous sponsors will exceed the target of
$20,000. If the selected candidate exceeds the fundraising total prior to the end of the work
term, the candidate will assist the summer marketer in raising internships.
