AIESEC Canada Alumni eNewsletter
An Introduction...
Welcome to another term with AIESEC Canada!
This summer we said goodbye to the fantastic 2010-2011 team, who broke exchange records in Canada. Last year saw 365 exchanges realized; we changed a life every day through our Global Internship Program.
We are incredibly excited to be working with you all this year to take AIESEC Canada to new heights. A goal for the Member Committee this year is to facilitate and encourage greater collaboration between our local committees and you, the alumni of our organization. From mentoring to partnerships, there is a place for every AIESEC alumni in Canada.
Your experiences, and your stories are what continue to motivate our members, especially through the busy recruitment periods. You are the product of AIESEC that they wish to become. We encourage you to reach out to your local committee(s), and help them spread the awareness of AIESEC in their school and community, so AIESEC can continue to positively impact Canadian society.
To keep up with AIESEC Canada's activities this year, please check out www.aiesec.ca.
We hope to speak and engage with as many of you as possible this year, as your experiences and stories of your time in AIESEC continue to inspire us every day.
Sincerely,
The AIESEC Canada Member Committee

Global AIESEC Alumni Awards
At International Congress 2011 in Nairobi, Kenya, AIESEC Canada was honoured to have our alumni Colin Baril awarded with a Global Contribution Award. Over the years, Colin has continued to give back to AIESEC Canada through his involvement on the Board of Directors, local support to the AIESEC chapters in Ottawa, and most importantly, as a mentor to many of the AIESEC Canada Member Committees.
|
"Colin Baril's unrelenting passion, depth of experience and commitment to growth, highlight his incredible contribution as both a mentor and an alumnus. Colin’s focus on external partnerships and hands-on support has been instrumental in moving AIESEC Canada forward at both local and national levels." - Peter Gallivan, President AIESEC Canada |

Tragedy at International Congress:
In the early morning of August 30th, a bus carrying 65 participants of AIESEC’s International Congress 2011 in Kenya was in an accident on its way from Nairobi to Mombasa for post-conference study tours. There was one fatality in the accident: Elmer Pérez Requiz, a native of Bolivia and President of AIESEC in Bolivia.
AIESEC in Bolivia has opened a temporary campaign to raise money for Elmer’s family and support them financially through this difficult time. If you would like to donate to the family, you can send a cheque with your donated amount to:
AIESEC Canada
161 Eglinton Ave E
Toronto, ON

A transfer will be made by AIESEC Canada to AIESEC in Bolivia, on behalf of all alumni who wish to contribute. AIESEC Canada joins with the international plenary in remembering Elmer, and sends his family our heart-felt condolences.
