When I first joined AIESEC, I immediately fell in love with the organization.  The passion, enthusiasm, and life that the people in AIESEC have is just contagious and has really motivated me to challenge myself and my world view.  With AIESEC, I have had the opportunity to support someone in their preparation for an internship abroad, to lead the Talent Management portfolio for a year where we were nominated for the National Excellence Award in Human Resources, to facilitate at regional and national conferences where I delivere functional and personal development workshops to over 300 delegates, and to develop national strategies in human resources and coach local chapters across Canada to assist in their implementation.  Four years later, I not only have access to a global network of young professionals, a wealth of experience in nonprofit organizational management, and a group of friends consisting of some of the best people I have ever known, but I have also discovered myself and what I am capable of.  I always knew AIESEC was changing my life- but what I only recently realized is that it also puts you in the unique position where you can change the lives of others in a positive and big way.  Developing yourself through developing others- this is AIESEC! (Recommended April 4, 2012).

The LCP works with both the Executive Board and AIESEC Canada to ensure standards are met within the local committee.

Our seven portfolios:

External Relations

The External Relations portfolio manages the communications and alumni relations material for our local chapter.  Communications is responsible for promoting brand identity within the stakeholders group, informing the membership and local community of AIESEC’s activities and using integrated marketing channels such as web content management.  Communications actively leads promotions such as advertising campaigns, press releases and brand aligned media appearances.  Alumni Relations is responsible for engaging alumni with activities and opportunities to remain in touch and feel connected with AIESEC and its past network.  This is done through tools such as the bi-weekly alumni newsletter, linkedin, facebook and active involvement with events.

Corporate Relations

The Corporate Relations portfolio reaches out to local businesses to develop external partnerships with the goal of raising internship opportunities for international students and recent graduates.  Through marketing and presentation of the AIESEC Global Internship program to businesses, CR creates opportunities for AIESECers around the world to come to Canada to gain personal and professional development as well as cultural exposure. CR ensures a high number of quality exchanges and facilitates a mutually beneficial relationship for both AIESEC exchange participants and corporate stakeholders.  Members of this portfolio will have the chance to develop effective communication and sales skills as well as expand their network of contacts by interacting with professionals regularly.  Become the reason that another AIESECer has the opportunity to gain valuable work experience in Canada!

Incoming Exchange

The Incoming Exchange portfolio is responsible for coordinating the exchange process for interns applying to work in Guelph. This process involves: identifying the needs of the intern’s employer, searching for suitable intern candidates, candidate matching, managing the logistics of the interns’ arrival to/ departure from Guelph. Upon arrival, incoming exchange ensures the our interns get a quality AIESEC experience and are integrated into the business and social community.

Finance

The Finance portfolio ensures the long term financial sustainability of AIESEC Guelph.  It is responsible for recording financial transactions, producing budgets, reporting revenues and expenses, findraising through events and applying for grants as potential sources of revenue.  This portfolio is also in charge with producing accurate and consolidated quarterly statements that track the financial history of the Local Committee.

Outgoing Exchange Matching

The Outgoing Exchange portfolio helps facilitate the steps in the exchange process to send members of AIESEC Guelph on internships around the world. This portfolio deals with all aspects of the selection process including recruitment, assessment, Review Boards, and Outgoing Preparation Seminars. Once the member is abroad, this portfolio is responsible for remaining in contact with exchange participants until they return.  Once the member has finished the internship, this portfolio provides opportunities for the member to reintegrate into the AIESEC Guelph community.

Outgoing Exchange Recruitment

The Outgoing Exchange Recruitment portfolio communicates options for Guelph students interested in going on an internship abroad.  This portfolio focuses mainly on the recruitment of exchange participants, and works closely with Talent Management and External Relations to ensure students are aware of the international internship opportunities we provide.

Talent Management

The Talent Management portfolio facilitates and tracks the personal and professional development of its members.  Largely responsible for recruitment and new member orientation, TM is also responsible for ensuring the continuous development and engagement of its members by providing ongoing learning opportunities.  This portfolio plans for succession through recruitment and works closely with the general membership and the other portfolios to ensure that all members achieve the full AIESEC experience.
